Can you install a heat pump in a flat?
Yes, but it depends on the type of flat. Ground floor flats with garden access are straightforward. Upper floor flats can work too, but you'll need freeholder permission and potentially communal agreement for the outdoor unit.
Do I need freeholder permission?
Usually, yes. Any external alterations to a leasehold property typically require the freeholder's written consent. We can provide technical specs to support your application.
Is a heat pump big enough for a flat?
Flats need smaller heat pumps than houses. A compact 5kW unit is typically more than enough for a one or two-bedroom flat. Smaller units are also quieter and take up less outdoor space.
What about communal systems for blocks?
