How much do heat pumps cost by brand?
A fully installed air source heat pump costs £8,000–£16,000 before the grant, depending on brand and system size. After the £7,500 BUS grant and with 0% VAT, most homeowners pay from £1,499. Which heat pump brand is the quietest?
Daikin Altherma 3 is the quietest at around 35dB — quieter than a library. However, all modern heat pumps operate below 45dB, which is about the same as a fridge. Planning rules require units to be no louder than 42dB at the nearest property boundary. Noise is rarely an issue with any brand.
